BICOL UNIVERSITY SHIFTS TO ASYNCHRONOUS CLASSES, SUSPENDS WORK AFTER BOMB THREATS
Legazpi City, Albay – Bicol University (BU) has ordered the immediate shift to asynchronous classes and suspension of work in all its offices and colleges in BU East, West, and Daraga campuses, effective 12:00 noon today, October 8, 2025. The decision was made in response to explicit bomb threats received through the university's official social media page.
The announcement was made via Office Memorandum No. 370, series of 2025, signed by BU SUC President IV Baby Boy Benjamin D. Nebres III. The memorandum was addressed to Vice Presidents, all Academic Deans, and Directors of Colleges in the East, West, and Daraga campuses.
The university administration stated that this measure is being implemented to allow for a thorough safety assessment of the concerned areas and to ensure the security and well-being of all university personnel and students. Bicol University emphasized that it does not take this matter lightly.
The memorandum instructs all concerned to disseminate the information and ensure compliance. The shift to asynchronous mode and suspension of work will remain in effect until further notice. The university urges all members of the BU community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the appropriate authorities.
