DARAGA LGU HOLDS "IDEAS IN MOTION" RESEARCH COMPETITION FOR STUDENTS

Daraga, Albay – The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Daraga is currently holding the "Ideas in Motion: Research Competition" today, September 29, 2025, at the Mayor's Conference Room.   The initiative aims to provide an opportunity for students in Daraga to showcase their research studies and innovative inventions.   Aside from highlighting student research, the activity also serves as a means for the local government to encourage youth participation and expand their knowledge in scientific studies and problem-solving skills.   Student-researchers participating in the event come from Daraga National High School, Malabog National High School, Bascaran National High School, and Anislag National High School.   In his message, Mayor Victor U. CABREDO QUESTIONS TIMING OF FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR JOVELLAR-PANTAO BYPASS ROAD DESPITE PRIOR APPROPRIATIONS

Legazpi City, Albay – Former Congressman Fernando "Didi" Cabredo of Albay's 3rd District has raised concerns regarding the timing of a feasibility study for the Jovellar-Pantao Bypass Road, despite over ₱1 billion already being appropriated for the project since 2019.   During the 2024 budget hearing, Cabredo questioned then Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manny Bonoan about a ₱20.4 million allocation in the proposed National Expenditure Program (NEP) for Fiscal Year 2025 for the feasibility study. ALBAY GOVERNOR EXTENDS AID TO MASBATE AFTER TYPHOON "OPONG" DEVASTATION

Legazpi City, Albay – In a display of solidarity and support, Albay Governor Noel E. Rosal has pledged significant assistance to the province of Masbate, which was severely affected by Typhoon "Opong" last Friday.   Governor Rosal announced the aid package via a Facebook post, stating, "We will help Masbate." REP. LAGMAN GRILLS COMELEC ON AKAP FUND RELEASE AMIDST ELECTION BAN

QUEZON CITY – During budget deliberations in the House of Representatives, Albay 1st District Representative Krisel Lagman questioned the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) regarding the release of Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AKAP) funds during the election period, when public funds are typically restricted.   "During the budget deliberation, I asked COMELEC a simple question: why was the release of AKAP funds allowed in the middle of the election ban on public funds?" Rep. Lagman stated on her facebook post.   According to Rep. Lagman, COMELEC officials failed to provide a direct answer to her query. "Sadly, they couldn't answer directly. OVER 24,000 EVACUATED IN ALBAY AS SEVERE TROPICAL STORM "OPONG" APPROACHES

LEGAZPI CITY – As of 8:00 AM today, September 25, 2025, a total of 24,282 individuals have been evacuated across Albay province due to the threat of Severe Tropical Storm "Opong." The Provincial Disaster Operation Center released a partial evacuation report detailing the number of families and individuals seeking shelter in various municipalities.   The report indicates that 8,436 families have been evacuated from their homes. The municipality of Camalig recorded the highest number of evacuees, with 2,061 families (6,590 persons) seeking refuge. LEGAZPI CITY – The Albay Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) has issued Advisory 2025-34 at 10:00 PM today, September 25, 2025, in response to Severe Tropical Storm "Opong."   Based on PAGASA's tracking, the storm was located approximately 150 km east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar, with maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h near the center and gusts up to 135 km/h. "Opong" is moving west-northwest at 20 km/h, with storm-force winds extending up to 460 km from the center.   The PDRRMC-APSEMO has directed the following:   1. LIGAO CITY, Albay – With Typhoon Opong expected to impact the Bicol region this Friday, the Albay Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) has declared full readiness, positioning all its assets, manpower, and equipment on standby to support the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC).   Provincial Engineer Dante Baclao confirmed the PEO's preparedness in an interview today, stating, "We at the PEO are a support agency, working alongside the PDRRMC.
