OVER 24,000 EVACUATED IN ALBAY AS SEVERE TROPICAL STORM "OPONG" APPROACHES
LEGAZPI CITY – As of 8:00 AM today, September 25, 2025, a total of 24,282 individuals have been evacuated across Albay province due to the threat of Severe Tropical Storm "Opong." The Provincial Disaster Operation Center released a partial evacuation report detailing the number of families and individuals seeking shelter in various municipalities.
The report indicates that 8,436 families have been evacuated from their homes. The municipality of Camalig recorded the highest number of evacuees, with 2,061 families (6,590 persons) seeking refuge. Tiwi follows with 1,164 families (3,584 persons), and Guinobatan with 1,111 families (2,732 persons).
Other municipalities with significant evacuation numbers include:
- Manito: 1,148 families (1,834 persons)
- Rapu-Rapu: 720 families (2,496 persons)
- Malilipot: 603 families (2,270 persons)
- Jovellar: 563 families (1,675 persons)
- Daraga: 373 families (1,295 persons)
- Tabaco City: 318 families (1,066 persons)
- Pio Duran: 215 families (740 persons)
- Libon: 160 families
The data, compiled by the Research Team, is based on reports submitted by the respective Local Government Units (LGUs) across the province. Authorities continue to monitor the storm's progress and urge residents to remain vigilant and adhere to safety guidelines.
