Diocese of Legazpi Demands Justice After Journalist's Murder in Guinobatan
LEGAZPI CITY, ALBAY – The Diocese of Legazpi, led by Bishop Joel Baylon, has released a statement strongly condemning the killing of Noel Bellen Samar, a media professional. The statement expresses heartfelt condolences and prayers to Samar's family, friends, and colleagues.
 
The Diocese conveyed its solidarity with those who condemn the act and demand justice and accountability for what they described as a "senseless act of violence."
 
The statement emphasized the sanctity of life, asserting that "Nothing can ever justify murder – not personal disputes, not political differences, not even appeals to public order or national security."
 
Referencing the commandment "Thou shalt not kill," the Diocese called for a renewed commitment to defending the sanctity of life, pursuing truth with courage, and working together for peace rooted in justice and Christian love.
 
The statement concludes with a prayer for the soul of Noel Bellen Samar and a plea that such atrocities never happen again. The Diocese's strong condemnation adds to the growing calls for a thorough investigation and justice for Samar's death.
