Groundbreaking of Multi-Purpose Facilities Enhances Community Resilience in Albay's First District
Tabaco City, Albay – October 19, 2025 – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Albay 1st District Engineering Office (DEO) marked a significant milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of five (5) Multi-Purpose Buildings (MPBs) across the first district of Albay. The ceremonies, held on October 4 and 5, 2025, signify a major boost to community development and resilience in the region.
The MPBs will be located in:
- Barangay Quinastillojan
- Hiraya Manawari Nature Park, San Vicente
- Barangay Hacienda (San Miguel Island)
- Barangay Bogñabong, Tabaco City
- Barangay San Isidro, Sto. Domingo, Albay
Each MPB (covered courts convertible to evacuation centers) in Barangays Quinastillojan, Bogñabong, and San Isidro is funded with P12,000,000.00. The MPB in Barangay Hacienda is funded with P11,322,000.00, and the construction of the MPB (Adult Day Center) at Hiraya Manawari Nature Park in San Vicente, Tabaco City, is funded with P10,000,000.00.
District Engineer Rainero A. Zerda, along with Engr. Noelannie B. Martinez and Engr. Michael A. Presbitero, led the ceremonies, joined by local officials, residents, beneficiaries, and Congresswoman Krisel Lagman.
These multi-purpose buildings are designed to serve essential functions, including hosting community gatherings, providing emergency shelter, delivering health services, facilitating government transactions, and supporting youth development activities.
