LEGAZPI CITY BARANGAY CHAIRMAN URGES TELCOS TO ADDRESS DANGLING WIRES

Legazpi City, Philippines – Barangay Bonot Chairman Reynaldo Bendecio is intensifying his call for telecommunications companies (telcos) to rectify the problem of dangling and obstructive wires in their area, citing safety hazards and disruptions to daily life. Bendecio warns that if telcos fail to respond, he will escalate the issue to the Local Government Unit (LGU) for intervention.

Chairman Bendecio highlighted specific incidents caused by the problematic wiring. "Recently, a resident lost internet service when a tree supporting telco wires was damaged," he stated. "It's unacceptable that our residents' connectivity depends on such precarious setups."

Another pressing issue is the obstruction of roads. "Our LGU trucks and vehicles were recently unable to pass through one of our puroks due to low-hanging wires," Bendecio explained. "This hinders our ability to deliver essential services and respond to emergencies."

Bendecio emphasized that the dangling wires are not only an eyesore but also pose significant safety risks, particularly during inclement weather. He urged telcos to conduct thorough inspections, maintenance, and necessary repairs to prevent accidents and ensure public safety.

"We have been patient, but the lack of action from these telcos is alarming," Bendecio asserted. "If they continue to ignore our calls, we will have no choice but to bring this matter to the attention of the LGU. We need a comprehensive solution to this problem, and we are prepared to take all necessary steps to protect our community."

The barangay is preparing a formal complaint to be submitted to the LGU, outlining the issues and demanding immediate action from the telecommunications companies.
