Mountain Massacre: Drone Footage Links Ako Bicol to Cagraray Island's Destruction

Bacacay, Albay – A recently captured drone video of the mountains on Cagraray Island has ignited public outrage, particularly among residents, showcasing the devastating impact of road opening projects allegedly undertaken by Ako Bicol Partylist.

The aerial footage reveals extensive damage to the island's mountainous terrain, leading to strong condemnation from locals who claim the projects are responsible for increased flooding in barangays at the foot of the mountains.

The controversy surrounding the road construction gained traction after Congresswoman Krisel Lagman brought the issue to light. She alleges that funds originally allocated for priority projects under the office of her late father, Congressman Edcel Lagman, were diverted to finance the contentious road openings. Lagman further asserts that the project is not a farm-to-market road as claimed, but rather a "farm-to-my-resort road," suggesting a potential conflict of interest.

"Ano ang purpose kaiyan ? Dai man Ki mga tawo na nagaestar sa lugar na yan ! Anong mga behiculo ang mabyahe dyan ? Sisay ang masarakay? Ano ang dudumanon ? Sisay ang dudumanon ? Nata tinugotan an na rumpagon ang kabubuldan? Simbaga daw tabi ini samuya director Kan DPWH Buda DENR!" said one of the netizen.
(What is the purpose of that? There aren't even people living in that area! What kind of vehicles will travel there? Who will ride it? Where will they go? Who will go there? Why was the destruction of the mountains allowed? Please answer these questions for us, Director of DPWH and DENR!)

Environmental groups have also voiced their concerns, citing potential long-term ecological consequences and urging a thorough investigation into the project's environmental impact assessment and permitting process.

Ako Bicol Partylist has yet to issue an official statement addressing the allegations and the concerns raised by the drone video. The incident has fueled calls for greater transparency and stricter oversight of infrastructure projects in the region to ensure environmental protection and community well-being.
