San Fernando Barangay Captain Urges Residents to Prioritize Waste Segregation
Santo Domingo, Albay – Lorenzo Barnedo Sr., the Punong Barangay (Barangay Captain) of San Fernando, is appealing to his constituents to take waste segregation seriously, especially after the discovery of large amounts of unsegregated garbage within the barangay.
In a public address, PB Barnedo emphasized the critical need for proper waste management to safeguard both public health and the environment. He highlighted that the current practice of indiscriminate waste disposal is not only unsightly but also poses significant health risks and environmental hazards.
"We must instill discipline in ourselves when it comes to waste disposal. Knowing how to properly segregate our garbage is a crucial step in preventing further problems in our community," Barnedo stated.
To combat this issue, the Barangay Council is set to launch an intensive information drive and educational campaign aimed at raising awareness about the importance of waste segregation. This initiative will include community seminars and workshops designed to teach residents the correct methods for sorting different types of waste.
"These educational programs will equip our residents with the knowledge and skills necessary to segregate waste effectively. However, the success of this endeavor hinges on our collective effort and cooperation," Barnedo added.
The Punong Barangay expressed optimism that through collaborative action, the community can significantly improve its waste management practices and create a cleaner, healthier environment for everyone.
"I am confident that by working together, we can transform our barangay into a model community with a sustainable waste management system. Let us protect our environment for the sake of our children and future generations," Barnedo concluded.
