Santo Domingo Mayor Prioritizes Transparency, Slashes Job Orders for Efficiency
Santo Domingo, Albay – In a recent exclusive interview with Bicol Net TV, Hon. Nomar Bong Banda, Mayor of Santo Domingo, Albay, discussed key changes in the local government, emphasizing transparency and efficiency.
New Municipal Accountant
Mayor Banda addressed the appointment of Ms. Lyn Cruz-Padernilla as the new Municipal Accountant, which faced some challenges before being approved by the Sangguniang Bayan. He highlighted the importance of having a certified public accountant in the position to ensure greater public accountability.
"With a certified public accountant, the handling of finances becomes more public and open," Mayor Banda explained. "Previously, there was a lack of check and balance because the budget officer was also the accountant. We have now separated these roles to ensure transparency. We now have a budget officer distinct from the accounting department."
Reduction of Job Orders
Mayor Banda also discussed the successful reduction of job orders within the municipality. He reported a significant decrease from over 700 to just 351 job orders.
"We have reduced our job orders from 700 plus to 351," Mayor Banda stated. "Additionally, we increased their daily wage from 300 pesos to 400 pesos. This has resulted in greater savings, which will be allocated to priority projects and municipal needs. The result is a more efficient workforce."
Mayor Banda's focus on transparency and efficient resource management aims to improve the overall governance and services provided to the residents of Santo Domingo, Albay.
