CIDG Operation in Nabua, Camarines Sur Nets Firearms, Drugs

Nabua, Camarines Sur – A coordinated operation by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Regional Field Unit 5 (RFU5) early this morning resulted in the seizure of firearms and suspected illegal drugs in Barangay La Opinion, Nabua, Camarines Sur.
 
The operation, conducted on November 6, 2025, between 5:00 AM and 7:40 AM, was carried out under the CIDG Flagship Projects "Oplan Paglalansag Omega" and "Oplan Big Bertha." Operatives from the CIDG Camarines Sur Provincial Field Unit (lead unit), 95th Special Action Company of the 9th Special Action Battalion, PNP SAF Cam Sur, and Nabua Municipal Police Station, executed a search warrant against 44-year-old Lito Benegas y Obis, a jobless resident of Zone 5, Barangay La Opinion, Nabua, Camarines Sur.
 
The search warrant, issued by Hon. Martessa E. Nuylan-Rodrigueza, led to the discovery of the following items:
 
For Violation of R.A. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act):
 
- One (1) Cal. 45 pistol (ARMSCOR, no serial number)
- Five (5) rounds of live ammunition for Cal. 45
- Two (2) steel magazines for Cal. 45
- One (1) improvised three-barrel shotgun
- Three (3) rounds of 12-gauge shotgun ammunition
- One (1) Cal. 22 rifle
- One (1) round of live ammunition for 40mm HE
 
For Violation of R.A. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act):
 
- A black coin purse containing three (3) small heated transparent plastic sachets with suspected shabu
- Php 11,800 in mixed denominations
- Assorted drug paraphernalia
 
The inventory and markings of the confiscated items were conducted on-site in the presence of Barangay officials and a media representative.
 
Authorities report that the suspect, Lito Benegas y Obis, has been previously linked to illegal drug activities. This operation is part of the CIDG-RFU5’s intensified campaign against criminal elements in the region.
 
The CIDG RFU5 is continuing its investigation and will file appropriate charges against the suspect.
