CIDG Operatives Arrest Suspect in Sorsogon for Illegal Possession of Firearm
Casiguran, Sorsogon – In a coordinated operation conducted early this morning, November 3, 2025, operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Sorsogon Provincial Field Unit (PFU), along with SWAT PPO, RIU5 PIT-Sorsogon, and Casiguran Municipal Police Station (MPS), arrested a suspect for violation of Republic Act 10591, also known as the "Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act."
The operation, part of the CIDG's flagship project "Oplan Paglalansag Omega," involved the implementation of a search warrant at the residence of SANNY JAYLO Y HICARTE, 49 years old, married, farmer, and a resident of Purok 1, Barangay Trece Martires, Casiguran, Sorsogon.
The search warrant was issued by Hon. Zach L. Zaragoza-Ziga, Executive Judge of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) of Sorsogon City.
The operation commenced at approximately 4:40 AM and concluded at 5:20 AM. During the search, the following items were recovered and confiscated:
- One (1) unit Caliber .45 pistol with serial no. 71-04-00685-99 and trademark Llama MAX-1 45 L/F
- Two (2) pcs Steel magazine for cal. 45
- Fourteen (14) pcs of live ammunition for cal. 45 pistol
The search and seizure were conducted in an orderly manner and were witnessed by Barangay Officials of Casiguran, Sorsogon.
The arrested suspect, Sanny Jaylo y Hicarte, was informed of his constitutional rights and the Miranda Doctrine before being brought to the Sorsogon PFU office for documentation and proper disposition.
The CIDG Regional Field Unit 5 (RFU5) stated that this operation is part of their ongoing efforts to combat illegal firearms and maintain peace and order in the region.
