Daraga Celebrates Children’s Month 2025 with State of the Children Address
DARAGA, ALBAY – The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) of Daraga held a special program on November 28, 2025, at New Blossoms, Tagas, to celebrate Children’s Month 2025. With the theme “OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!”, the event aimed to highlight the importance of protecting children’s rights and promoting their welfare in the community.
A key highlight of the celebration was the State of the Children Address (SOCA) delivered by Hon. Victor U. Perete, the Municipal Mayor. In his speech, Mayor Perete discussed the current issues facing children in Daraga, the progress made by the local government, and future plans to ensure their safety and well-being. The address underscored the municipality’s commitment to prioritizing children’s rights and creating a safe environment for their growth and development.
The program also featured the awarding of the Most Functional Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC), recognizing barangays that have shown exemplary efforts in safeguarding children’s welfare. Mayor Perete, Vice Mayor Fleur Jazel T. Ruiz, Daraga LIGA President Enrique T. De Asis, and Ms. Imelda M. Gonzaga, RSW, OIC-MSWD Officer, handed out the awards to 33 barangays that demonstrated outstanding performance in protecting children’s rights.
Officials emphasized the continuous efforts of the local government unit to uphold children’s rights and expand opportunities for their development. The event was attended by representatives from Daraga Municipal Police Station, barangay officials, community leaders, and students from various schools in Daraga, all united in celebrating the significance of children in the community. The celebration reaffirmed Daraga’s dedication to fostering a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive and enjoy their rights.
