Daraga LGU Enhances Disaster Response with CCCM, IDPP Training


 
DARAGA, ALBAY – The Local Government Unit of Daraga is boosting its disaster preparedness capabilities through a Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) & Internally Displaced Persons Protection (IDPP) Basic Course Training. The training commenced last November 5, 2025, at the Daraga Covered Court.
 
Daraga Mayor Victor U. Perete emphasized the importance of the training, stating, "Magayon yading training ta pirme baga kita tiga tamaan ki manlayn-layn na kalamidad, arog san bagyo." (This training is very important because we are always hit by various calamities, such as typhoons) He added that the training would provide the necessary skills to effectively manage evacuation centers and assist evacuees.
 
The training is spearheaded by the Daraga Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) in collaboration with the Daraga Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO). It aims to equip barangays with the knowledge and skills to manage evacuation centers effectively and address the specific needs of vulnerable evacuees, including senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), pregnant women, children, and those with illnesses.
 
Experts from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 5, namely Claire Christine B. Lobete (PDO III/DROMIC Focal), Lloyd S. Lara (SWO II/SWAD TL), and Kimberly S. Biag (SWO I/Provincial Focal/CCCM Focal), led the seminar. They discussed modules on International Humanitarian Principles and Standards, Philippine Laws on the protection of women and children, Camp Site Mapping, and identifying problems in evacuation centers.
 
Present during the training were Mayor Victor U. Perete, Imelda M. Gonzaga (Officer Incharge-MSWD), Maylene P. Siwa (LPT PEO II/CCCM Focal Person), Engr. Bim Dineros (Department Head - MDRRMO), Punong Barangays, Barangay Secretaries, and Barangay Health Workers (BHW).
 
The seminar will continue until November 7, 2025, Friday, for additional barangays in the municipality. This initiative underscores Daraga's commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its constituents during times of disaster.
