Albay 2025 Christmas Festivities Officially Launch with Lighting of Giant Tree Led by Governor Rosal

Albay’s 2025 Christmas celebrations have officially begun as Governor Noel E. Rosal led the lighting ceremony of a giant Christmas tree, marking the start of the festive season in the province. The symbolic event, held at Peñaranda Park—the central venue for this year’s celebrations—drew large crowds of residents eager to kick off the most wonderful time of the year.
 
The main ceremony was attended by key local officials, including Albay 1st District Congresswoman Krisel Lagman and Albay 2nd District Congressman Caloy Andes Loria, along with other provincial leaders. The launch was met with positive reactions from Albayanos, who expressed excitement at finally feeling the Christmas spirit in the area. Notably, the event took place at Peñaranda Park, which had been the center of controversy in recent months following the collapse of the stage roof at the venue.
 
Residents near the park expressed their gratitude for the successful launch, with many highlighting how it has brought life back to the community. “Salamat Kay Gobernador Rosal at buhay na buhay na ang spiritu ng pasko dito sa amin, lalo na sa aming malapit lang dito sa sentro ng Albay,” said Nanay Nelia from Brgy. Maoyod, capturing the joy of neighbors who live close to the park. Her words reflected the general sentiment of relief and happiness among locals, who had been concerned about the park’s safety and future after the earlier incident.
 
The giant Christmas tree, adorned with thousands of twinkling lights and festive decorations, now stands as a prominent landmark in the heart of Albay, serving as a beacon of hope and celebration for the entire province. The lighting ceremony also featured brief performances by local groups, adding to the cheerful atmosphere as families gathered to take photos, share meals, and enjoy the moment together.
 
As the Christmas season unfolds, Peñaranda Park is set to host a series of activities in the coming weeks, including religious services, showcase of Albay Delicacies on the food stall and street parties. Provincial officials have assured the public that all necessary safety measures have been put in place at the park to prevent further incidents, ensuring that residents and visitors can fully enjoy the festivities in a secure environment. The launch has set a positive tone for Albay 2025’s Christmas celebrations, with many looking forward to a joyful and memorable season ahead.
