UNIQLO Philippines, in collaboration with BDO Network Bank (BDONB) and BDO Foundation, has turned over 10,000 AIRism T-shirts to the Department of Education (DepEd) as part of the global Heart of LifeWear Project, aiming to support and uplift public school teachers nationwide with comfortable apparel that carries a message of gratitude.

The local iteration of the global initiative – which launched in 2024 and has donated over one million clothing items to communities in 28 regions worldwide – targets public school teachers across the Philippines. The ceremonial turnover was held recently at the DepEd office in Makati, where representatives from the three organizations formally handed over the items in the presence of key officials from all partnering groups.

The event brought together UNIQLO Philippines Chief Operating Officer Geraldine Sia, DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara, BDONB Group Head Alberto O. Quiogue, BDO Foundation President Mario A. Deriquito, as well as regional DepEd officials and UNIQLO’s Sustainability team. “Every time we lift our teachers, we strengthen the communities that depend on them. This collaboration shows how even a simple gesture can carry a meaningful message of gratitude and shared purpose,” said Secretary Angara. “These shirts offer comfort, but more importantly, they honor the people who guide our learners with steady dedication every day. When we invest in teachers, we invest in the country's future.”

The partnership aligns local impact with UNIQLO’s global “Power of Clothing” philosophy, which emphasizes that clothing can deliver comfort, dignity, and hope beyond its basic function. Sia noted that the Heart of LifeWear Project “encapsulates the essence of what our philosophy is all about – clothing made for all, with the purpose of empowering people and making their everyday lives better – and we hope this small gift provides teachers the comfort they need to power through their days.”

For BDO Network Bank and BDO Foundation, the initiative reaffirms their longstanding advocacy to empower educators through holistic support, building on existing DepEd partnerships that include teacher loans, financial literacy training, and community engagement programs. “We remain committed to working with DepEd in uplifting our education community especially our teachers,” said Deriquito, while Quiogue added that the project reinforces BDONB’s commitment to supporting educators not just financially, but in ways that make a real difference in their daily lives.
